Hindsight 2020: Our Health, Our Future

COVID-19 has amplified our nation’s structural inequities as evident in racial disparities in deaths, access to care, income distribution, and police brutality against Black lives. This year's Hindsight Conference calls on planners and policy makers to center racial justice in our understanding of health and the environment. Join us and take action towards centering the Black and Brown existence in health, joy, creativity, and healing.

The two day, virtual event took place from November 12-13, 2020. The 2020 conference drew 1,060+ registrants, 27 sessions, 9 digital exhibits, a walking tour, 3 post-conference programs, digital networking, and interactive opening and closing remarks on both days! The sessions created space for brave insights, inspirational stories, new vocabulary, and radical healing in community. We hope that the lessons learned and the community developed at Hindsight this year continue to sustain participants in our work to advance racial and social justice in cities, and redefine our health and our future!

Keynote Graphic Recording

For this year's Keynote Fire-side Chat, we had the honor of having graphic recorder Tiaré Jung (they/them) join us and illustrate the rich conversation on our health and our future between Cara Page, Maya Lazzaro, and Emmily De Los Santos. Thanks so much Tiaré!

Hindsight Digital Memorial

At the end of Day 1, attendees gathered to reflect, mourn, and honor the losses of the year.

Virtual Marketplace

In light of COVID-19 and the significant toll on Black and Brown business owners, this year’s conference will include a virtual marketplace to amplify Black and Brown owned small businesses.

Hindsight was proud to partner with CRUX for the 2020 conference!

Crux is the only cooperative of Black artists working in digital spaces, including AR & VR. Their mission is to build a digital, immersive storytelling movement that lifts Black artists up rather than growing on the backs of their brilliance. Their core values are rooted in liberation theology and are a counter-narrative to traditional ways of building a revenue driven business. They are human first community builders who lead with trust, believing in shared leadership, joy, abundance, and move slowly and thoughtfully as they grow. Learn more about them.
